Yankees Players Cry After Young Fan Hit By Foul Ball

A young fan is “OK” after she was hit in the face by a foul ball during the fifth inning Twins vs Yankees game Wednesday in The Bronx. The game was delayed for only four minutes but for anybody watching it felt like 40 minutes. Todd Frazier was at the plate when he hit a line drive that hit the little girl in the stands just a few rows up from the third-base dugout.

It was a tense situation as help was immediatly called after the ball hit the fan and she was carried from the stands and taken to a nearby hospital. The broadcast would not show the child after she was hit but showed reaction shots of the players. Frazier who was visibly shaken had tears in his eyes and went down on one knee. Matt Holiday was on second base was also visibly shaken with tears in his eyes.

In a statement released by the team, the Yankees said “the child who was struck with a batted ball today was given first aid at the ballpark and is receiving medical attention at an area hospital” and declined further comment, citing HIPAA laws.
