Valanciunas Helps Lead Raptors To Win Over Pistons

The Raptors played at home for their first preseason game after globetrotting to Hawaii, Victoria and Portland. A different story for their opponents the Detroit Pistons who played their first away game from their new palace the Little Caesars Arena this season.

The Pistons got Andre Drummond back, after he missed the last two games because of conjunctivitis. Drummond was guarding JV when the Lithuanian Lion went to put up a three and Drummond barely threw up a hand to contest it…. he missed, but at least he tried.

Valanciunas finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Raptors to a 116-94 pre-season victory over the Pistons at the Air Canada Centre.

“He’s done an excellent job and I’m not even looking at his scoring,” said coach Dwane Casey. “His reads, his rolling to the right place, understanding he has to be an outlet if they’re blitzing and he’s doing a good job with that, catching and making a decision, whether it’s scoring or making the pass.

Another good sign besides the fact that new addition C.J. Miles hit 5 from behind the arc was the Raptors passing. The team had 30 assists with eight of them coming from DeRozan.

The Raptors next game is Friday in Chicago,
