July 9th, 2015 the Toronto Raptors held a press conference at the Air Canada Centre to welcome newly acquired hometown kid Cory Joseph and the man who calls himself Junk Yard Dog 2.0, DeMarre Carroll.
The Raptors signed both as free agents in the summer of 2015 and they were formally introduced on the hot summer day in Toronto. Two years to the day, it was reported that the Raptors orchestrated a sign-and-trade deal that sent Joseph to the Indiana Pacers for C.J. Miles
“There’s no place like home,” Joseph said in his 2015 press conference that introduced him as a Raptor. “I’m just so excited to be home, to get to play in front of my family and friends for an organization like the Toronto Raptors. It’s literally a dream come true.”
Unforunalty, those dreams have come to an end and his teammate who was signed the same time is also gone.
The day prior it was announced that DeMarre Carroll was dealt to the Brooklyn Nets for Justin Hamilton and two draft picks.
When Carroll was introduced to the Raptors in 2015 Ujiri thought he was the perfect fit for the team.
“[This is] another special day for the Raptors family,” Ujiri said. “We want to welcome a player that we’ve always admired….A great human being we are bringing to our program and we feel very very privileged.”
While the trades have brought criticism by fans the Raptors needed to move money. It’s expected that Hamilton will be waived by the Raptors when the Nets deal is approved.
Miles’ contract according to ESPN, is worth $25 Million over three-years with a players option.

There are a lot of items that need to fall in to place before both of these are official, but it is expected to be announced by the end of the week. In order for this all to be complete the Wizards need to sign Otto Porter Jr. to the $106 Million offer that the Nets gave him.
