Leafs Strike Early To Improve To 6-1-0

The Maple Leafs scored four goals on their first five shots en route to their third consecutive win and a 6-1-0 record overall. TheMaple Leafs have won six of their first seven games in a season for the seventh time in franchise history.
The Maple Leafs scored at least six goals in a game for the third time this season (7-2 W on Oct. 4 at WPG and 8-5 W on Oct. 7 vs. NYR). Toronto leads the NHL with 34 goals overall, seven more than the next-closest clubs (CHI and TBL: 27).

Auston Matthews (1-1—2) has collected at least one point in six of his first seven games this season (6-4—10). Matthews has also scored six times in five career games vs. DET (6-2—8).

Patrick Marleau skated in his 1,500th career NHL game, becoming the 18th player in League history to reach the milestone. Marleau joined Flames forward Jaromir Jagr (1,714) as the only active players to appear in 1,500 career games.
