For one night only on August 23, 2017, Demand.Film will present the award winning cycling documentary Le Ride in Cineplex theatres across Canada. Demand.Film’s first foray into the Canadian market, Le Ride follows Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race) and his friend Ben Cornell, as they push their bodies to the limit while attempting to recreate the gruelling 1928 Tour de France.
In 1928 a group of Australians and one New Zealander became the first English speaking team ever to compete in the Tour de France. After a six-week voyage at sea, the under-trained and under-resourced team began what would later be considered one of the toughest Tours in history – a hell on wheels race of attrition. Only 41 riders finished the more than 3,500-mile race, yet remarkably three were from the Australasian team.
88 years later Keoghan and Cornell set off on their own quest, to recreate the circumstances of that legendary race in modern day France. On vintage steel racing bikes with marginal breaks, the pair navigates France’s scenic trails while battling exhaustion, equipment failure, and ever-changing landscapes.
Featuring archival footage of the 1928 Tour de France, guests will be able to witness for themselves this extraordinary story of achievement against all odds on August 23, 2017, 6:30 P.M. local time, in Cineplex theatres across Canada.
New to the Canadian market, Demand.Film’s worldwide model allows individuals the opportunity to organize and promote screenings in their local cinemas.
