It’s not even the All-Star break and Aaron Judge has already tied a New York Yankees long standing record. On Wednesday, Judge tied Joe DiMaggio’s New York Yankees record for home runs by a rookie.
In a game that saw the Toronto Blue Jays with a 5-run lead blown, Judge hit a two-run drive that put a dent in the wall in the fourth inning. It marked his 29th home run of the season.
“Any time you’re in the sentence as someone like DiMaggio is pretty incredible,” Judge said. “It’s quite an honour.”
His 29th home run puts him a top of the majors. There have been only 8 Yankees, including Judge, that have hit 20 home runs in a season.
The Yankees lost to the Jays 7-6.
